When sizing a suit for your child please measure the distance from the base of the neck (where the collar bones meet) to just underneath the crutch
6-12 Months = 36cm Chest ; 52cm Neck to Crotch.
1-2 Years = 38cm Chest ; 54cm Neck to Crotch.
3-4 Years = 40cm Chest ; 56cm Neck to Crotch.
5-6 Years = 42cm Chest ; 58cm Neck to Crotch.

Swimming lessons in January in a "heated" indoor pool resulted in a shivering four-year-old. Being a diver myself, I knew a nice shortie wetsuit would solve the problem, but I couldn't justify the expense with three growing kids. Thank you Soles Up Front! This is a quality 2-mil wetsuit for a lot less than most of the other kids' wetsuits I could find. The size chart in the Product Description works well, if you completely disregard the associated ages and actually measure. I've already ordered my son a second wetsuit in the next size up, since I expect him to have outgrown this one by summer.
Washing instructions say hand wash in fresh water, but we've abused the suit a bit more than that since we're using it in a chlorinated pool. We use the hand wash cycle on our machine, along with free-and-clear detergent. We certainly do line dry, as recommended.

While we go to a heated indoor pool, it was still very cold for my very, very thin boy. He hated swim lessons, refusing to go into the pool. When he did go in, he was shivering within minutes. Yet, I know he loves to swim. I looked and looked and decided on this wetsuit. It is a huge hit!! My son is back in the pool and enjoying himself without shivers. We also used it in Mexico in both an outdoor pool and in the ocean. It held up well and kept my son comfortable.
It can be a pain to take him to the bathroom, but the long corded zipper will help with that when he's old enough to go to a public bathroom on his own.
The pirate design somehow made my son feel like he was wearing a Super Hero costume. He loves this swim suit.
Quality is very good. Durable. It's been worn weekly for 6 weeks (daily for one week of that in ocean and sand).
Only issue was sizing. I went to the manufacturer's website for accurate sizing. Amazon's size chart is completely off, even backwards -- at least at the time of purchase in 12/12. Shipping took less than the estimated time.

pay attention to the sizing, i measured my toddler to find his size. he likes being a pirate, and it is not too thick for indoor swimming lessons in fall/winter. my husband thinks the kids don't need it but it makes me feel better not seeing them quiver from the cold.
